Small Electrical Jobs

The jobs other electricians will not travel for

Sockets, lights, switches and the small electrical work we take on across Goole, Howden, Selby and York.

Plenty of electricians will not come out for one socket or a light that has stopped working. We will. Small jobs are a proper part of what we do, not something squeezed in when it suits.

You get the same qualified, NAPIT registered work on a bathroom pull cord as you would on a full consumer unit upgrade, and the same certificate where one is needed.

Pricing

What it costs, before you ring

We would rather tell you now than have you find out at the end of the call.

Our minimum charge is £102 including VAT

That covers travelling to you and up to an hour on site. Most small jobs are done well inside the hour.

Here is the useful part: if two or three small jobs can be done in the same visit, they come under the same charge. It is worth saving them up.

A visit to look at a job and price it is free. That is a visual inspection only, with no work carried out on the day.

If a job will take longer than an hour, or needs parts, we will tell you the cost before we start. No surprises at the end.

★★★★★

“So professional, got us booked in for the job really quickly and have already recommended him to everyone I know. While he was here, he even fitted me a couple of new lights. All round, great guy, great job.”

What we do

What we take on

Sockets and power

Lighting

Safety and ventilation

Something not working

Not on the list? Ring and ask. If it is not something we do, we will say so rather than waste your time.

Being straight with you

What we do not do

Saying this here saves everyone a phone call.
Emergency and out of hours call outs

We work normal hours. Ring during the day and we will do our best to fit you in.

Alarms and CCTV

Not something we take on.

Appliance installation

We will wire the connection in, but we do not fit the appliance.

Traditional rewires

We only take rewires on where the property is going fully digital with Velbus smart wiring.

Why us

Why people ring us for the small stuff

We answer the phone

Most calls are taken by Nathan, who handles our bookings and can usually price a straightforward job there and then.

One electrician, start to finish

The work is done by Matt. You get a text when he is on the way, and if that ever changes for a particular job, you will be told who is coming before they arrive.

It gets left tidy

Dust sheets down, mess cleared, and the job finished properly rather than left half done.

Certified where it needs to be

Some small jobs need certification and notification. Where they do, that is included, not an extra.

“He fixed our underfloor heating and bathroom light quickly and to a very high standard. He was able to source the required parts on the same day, which meant everything was resolved without unnecessary delays. Professional, reliable and thorough.”

Brie Whelan, Selby. Google review.
How it works

Three steps, no chasing

1

Tell us what needs doing

Ring 01904 599 109, fill in the form, or send a photo. A photo of the socket, the fitting or the fuse board usually tells us more than a paragraph.

2

We give you a price and a date

Most small jobs can be priced over the phone. If it needs looking at first, we will come and look, at no charge.

3

We turn up and do it

On time, tidy, and certified where certification is needed.

Where we work

Goole, Howden, Selby, York and the villages between

Most weeks we are in Goole, Howden, Selby, Drax and Swinefleet.

York, Tadcaster, Brough, Pocklington and Market Weighton are usually for planned or larger work.

Not sure if we reach you? Ring 01904 599 109 and ask. We are often closer than people expect.

Questions

Common questions

One socket. One light. One switch. The minimum charge of £102 inc. VAT applies whatever the job, so a single socket costs the same as an hour of work. If you have a few bits that need doing, put them together into one visit and you get far more for the money.

Sometimes. Ring and ask. We would rather be honest about when we can get to you than promise and let you down.

Usually yes, for access. If that is difficult, tell us when you book and we will work something out.

Some jobs mean lifting a floorboard or chasing a wall. We will tell you before we start if that is likely, and we clear up after ourselves.

Where the work needs one, yes, and it is included. Not every small job requires one, and we will tell you which yours is.

Yes. Remedial work after an EICR is a large part of what we do.

Get in touch

Tell us about your job

Fill this in and we will come back to you the same working day. A photo of the job helps, so send one over if you have it.

Prefer to talk? Ring 01904 599 109. Most calls are taken by Nathan, who can usually price a straightforward job over the phone.

Also worth knowing

Other things we can sort while we are there

Consumer unit upgrades

From £865 inc. VAT

Older fuse board causing problems, or not enough protection for what you have now.

EICR and electrical reports

From £255 inc. VAT

Required by law for rental properties, and useful reassurance for homeowners.

Something not working

From £102 inc. VAT

Tripping, flickering or dead circuits. We find the cause and put it right.
